Find a Trope:
openUnwarranted alert of the authorities Web Original
What is a good trope to describe alerting the authorities when it is unwarranted, sometimes with them even playing along with the so-called emergency? (Example: In the second episode of Panathinaikos Bear (link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sJNPu_czenc&list=PLC1797FF4EFA86997&index=2 ), Pana calls the authorities after he scores a goal in football, and the goalie, Kurdt Kestrel, gets arrested upon the arrival of the authorities without any explanation of his “charges”.)

Edited by apocalypsevitalopenA type of skit comedy show which typically features just one actor playing every part Web Original
I was wondering if there exists a trope for this specifically, or one which is close enough to cover the concept. Basically, I've noticed an increasingly common form of online skit comedy on You Tube, where you typically have a single person who runs a channel where they write, produce, and star in comedy skits all on their own. What's notable about these channels is that they often make skits featuring multiple characters even though they're produced by just one lone person, which naturally leads to this one person playing every character and making use of clever editing to make it seem like there's multiple people interacting with each other in real time. While the concept of having one actor play multiple roles at the same time isn't anything new, I do think there's a quite specific trend of these types of online skit shows which is an offshoot of the broader trend of single-person video producers that the internet, and especially You Tube, has enabled. So, is there any trope that acknowledges this phenomenon currently?
openFast speed, no distance Web Original
In the G’s Paragate episode “Jungle on a Jungle (5/5)”, E. Andleway tries to run up the tree that Elder Bouchemhan is stuck in, but despite his rapid pace and acceleration, he goes absolutely no distance at all. The narrator even describes him as having “reappeared almost before he vanished”. His leg injury isn’t even significant to this instance; he actually blames his body for physically locking him out of running because of an apparent knowledge about the outcome of his potential impact with the tree. What is a good name for this kind of trope? (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55LMswEXDCw)
Edited by BlankBlanknessopenEnduring for a long time with a serious injury Web Original
Throughout the “Jungle on a Jungle” story arc of the web series “G’s Paragate”, a character named E. Andleway somehow manages to stay with his expedition group perfectly okay, despite his leg bleeding so severely, he has to support himself with a rock that he carries like a staff. And he doesn’t even pass out or collapse once or show signs that he might at some point. What is a good trope to describe his endurance under the conditions of his injury?

In the second episode of an obscure web series called “G’s Paragate” (page: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WebAnimation/GsParagate, video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sVU8YiHV-FI), Mr. Walker finds a corpse buried in the mud, but discovers the hard way that the “corpse” was actually a perfectly fine living person who was lying in the mud to cure his bad skin. What is the name of this trope?
openThis quote Web Original
It's not Mood Whiplash (the mood is much more comedic) or Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking (that one needs at least three items). What is it?
openDirtbag impossible screen transition (Solved.) Web Original
In YELP FOR PEOPLE! by Smosh, there’s a Scene Transition each time the scene changes in the Show Within the Show Dirtbag Impossible. Which scene transition is it?
UPDATE: Apparently, it's Dissolve.
Edited by AlicornGaiaopenTwo possessed characters are related via the ghosts possessing them Web Original
Is this sufficient for Tangled Family Tree or is there a different trope that could work here? (This is for an upcoming work page) (timestamp to a brief video explanation)
- The Elements Of Insanity: RariFruit and Pinkis Cupcake become related in a sense through the spirits possessing each of them. Rarity was possessed by RubberFruit while Pinkie Pie was possessed by his son, Painis Cupcake. Pinkis initially finds the idea of RariFruit and her being mother and daughter to be odd, but she just considers them to be especially close friends.
openNot the target audience Web Original
A phrase that reviewers use to indicate their opinion should be taken as a grain of salt, or used against them for being to over critical.
openSomething about catching the entire universe (solved) Web Original
In that part of a Dorkly Originals video, Red used a Zapdos on a masterball and overcharged it, resulting in him catching the entire universe and the narration to ask with horror what he had done. What's that trope's name?
Edited by AlicornGaiaopenWhat is that light supposed to be? Web Original
In the SMG4 page of groin attacks, I put in this conversation.
I'm wondering what's the trope's name regarding the part where swagmaster wonders what is the light supposed to mean.
EDIT: Ok not sure why the structure isn't copying exactly.
Edited by AlicornGaiaopenBlackbeard realize his beard became pink from a prank (Answered) Web Original
In this Assassin Creed 4 song by Smosh, Edward Kenway sees Blackbeard got drunk and passed out while they were celebrating their treasure find. He takes the chance to steal Blackbeard's treasure for himself before realizing he could also do something else. When Blackbeard wakes up, he realizes that Edward not only stole his treasure but dyed his beard pink, he screams out Kenway as Edward sails away laughing as his prank worked.
Which trope about pink fits the above scene? Also, is there a trope about "You were the first to fall asleep at a party and hence get pranked by the other attendees"? Feel like the second question also fits the scene well.

Is there a trivia or Just for Fun item for creators acknowledging this site in some capacity?
openFanboy bought the company? Web Original
Elon Musk liked being the world's richest Twitter troll so much that he bought the company and made himself CEO, and has been, shall we say, very controversial in his new job. Is this Promoted Fanboy, Running the Asylum, or something else?
Edited by RonfaropenObvious Post-Production Correction Web Original
You know how sometimes in web video the creator makes a factually incorrect statement, but not wanting to spread misinformation on the internet or do a new take of that part, they might dub over the line with whatever mic they have at hand or text-to-speech, pause the video and say "Sorry fellas it's not actually X, it's Y, my bad" or briefly show some text on the screen with the correct information? Like, they make a whole bit about it instead of trying to hide that there ever was a mistake made at all?
openA particular pregnancy trope for smosh (RESOLVED) Web Original
In Mimes Are The WORST!, one segment has the Mime and his girlfriend look at a pregnancy test (which says PREGGERS). The girlfriend then angrily asks him what was supposed to be a mime condom who could only respond with a cheeky grin.
I’m unsure which trope this is but I know it’s in the Pregnancy Tropes list.
Edited by AlicornGaiaopenReactive Voiceover Web Original
There's a thing I've seen often on Binging with Babish and The Backlogs among others, where an obviously post-recorded voiceover responds to action on-screen as though it were being recorded on site - saying "Whoop" when dropping an ingredient, or offering a "Glurk" when an in-game avatar is smashed by an enemy's hammer. Is this a Thing?
Edited by hobbitguy1420openShallow attitude Web Original
Is there trope about vain people who extend their vanity towards those around them? Both in terms of looks and/or status/background?
IDK how to like, explain this but do we have anything that would fit an intentionally Played for Laughs gag where someone on a stream/video gets up to go talk to/yell at another person on stream/call in person?
I have a clip from Epic SMP where Cooper gets up to go tell Travis (another player he lives with) "no murder!" and it's been amusing me and I wonder if there's a trope that would fall under.
It also happens quite a bit in Highcraft
